Mileking Tires Review: The MK625 All-Weather Tire for Alberta Drivers

If you are reading a Mileking tires review, you are probably weighing up one question: can one set of tires handle a full Alberta year, or do you need two? Mileking's answer is the MK625 all-weather tire, and it is the Mileking line we stock in Edmonton. This review covers what it is, who it suits, and when we would point you to a dedicated winter tire instead.

As with any review from a shop that sells the product, read this as a dealer's guide: we will tell you what the tire is built for and where it fits, not invent test numbers.

What the Mileking MK625 is

The MK625 is an all-weather tire for passenger cars and SUVs. That is a different category from an all-season tire, and the difference matters here:

  • An all-season tire is really a three-season tire. Its rubber stiffens in real cold.
  • An all-weather tire uses a compound that stays flexible in the cold, with a siped tread pattern for slush and packed snow, while still wearing evenly and running quietly in summer.

The appeal is simple: one set, year-round. No second set of rims, no storage, and no changeover appointments every spring and fall.

Sizes, price and warranty

We stock eighteen MK625 sizes — our widest all-weather size run — covering common passenger car and SUV fitments from 15 inch upwards. On our shelf the MK625 runs from about $87 to $155 a tire depending on size, and like the other tires we sell it carries a 60,000 km treadwear warranty, or manufacturer defect only. The load index and speed rating are published on every size, so you can match it to your door placard.

Who the MK625 suits

City and highway commuters

If most of your winter driving is ploughed Edmonton streets and the highway, and you want to avoid two sets of tires, an all-weather tire is a sensible middle ground.

Drivers without storage

Condo and apartment drivers often have nowhere to keep a second set. One set year-round removes that problem entirely.

Second vehicles

For a car that does fewer kilometres, paying for and storing a dedicated winter set can be hard to justify.

When a dedicated winter tire is the better choice

An all-weather tire is a compromise, and we will say so. If you drive rural roads, start early on untreated roads, park outside through January, or regularly face packed snow and ice, a dedicated winter tire will do more for you. We stock five Haida winter lines that carry the three-peak mountain snowflake mark for severe snow — see our 3 peak mountain snowflake guide for what that symbol means, and our all-weather vs winter tires comparison if you are still deciding.

Making any tire last longer

Keep the pressure right in cold weather

Tire pressure drops as the temperature drops. An all-weather tire running low wears its shoulders and loses grip, so check pressures cold against your door placard, especially after the first sharp cold snap.

Replace 2 or 4 tires?

Because an all-weather set stays on all year, it is tempting to replace just the two most worn tires. On many vehicles that is fine, as long as the new pair goes where we recommend and the tread depths are close. On all-wheel-drive vehicles a big difference front to back can matter to the drivetrain, so ask us before you decide — we will check the other tires and tell you straight.

Rotate and check alignment

A year-round tire never gets a rest, so rotation and a healthy alignment matter even more. See our guide to wheel alignment in Edmonton.

Fitting the MK625 in Edmonton

We mount, balance and torque every tire in our own bays at 2843 50 Ave NW. Tire installation is $100 for a set of four or $25 a tire, by appointment, and the full MK625 size run is stocked in Edmonton, so there is no waiting on a special order.

Our verdict

The Mileking MK625 makes the most sense for city and highway drivers who want one set of tires for the whole Alberta year, and it is priced well for what it does. If your winters are rural, icy or early-morning, a dedicated winter tire is still the better tool. See MK625 sizes and prices, or call (780) 518-1000 and we will help you choose.
