When a TPMS sensor needs replacing

  • The tire-pressure light stays on, or flashes and then stays on, even though the tires are at the right pressure.
  • One wheel shows no reading on the dash.
  • You are putting on new aftermarket wheels and want the warning system to keep working.

Sensors run on sealed batteries, so after several years they simply stop. The cheapest time to replace one is while the tire is already off the rim — during a tire installation or a seasonal swap.

TPMS programming

A new sensor has to be programmed and then introduced to the vehicle so the truck knows which wheel it is on. We use universal programmable sensors that cover both frequency standards, so one sensor type fits most makes. Tell us your year, make and model when you call and we will confirm before you come in.

Questions we get asked

How much does TPMS sensor replacement cost?

Universal sensors are $54.99 each. Fitting and programming are quoted with the sensors, before we start, so you know the full number first.

Can you program a TPMS sensor I already have?

Call (780) 518-1000 with your year, make and model and the sensor you have, and we will tell you whether we can program it.

Why is my tire pressure light still on after new tires?

Usually a sensor with a flat battery, a damaged sensor, or a new wheel with no sensor in it. We read every sensor while the wheel is off and tell you which one before replacing anything.
